Wonder, wonder-fall. Raises the bar for pooch shots. (Found this in JulietNN's faves).

Just found this! Holy s___! This is spectacular. Not only the focus on the dog and kickin' DOF, but the color, the composition AND the one leaf, all captured in the frame. WOWZA

I love this capture.

I used to raise white bulldogs. I still have a 9 year old relic with a brindle patch on his left eye. He is lieing right here beside me now.

Congratulations on your first ribbon. I didn't get a chance to comment on your picture during the challenge but it was one of my favorites. The colors and expression of the dog are outstanding. The light on your subject and the DOF make it appear three dimensional. Outstanding job.

Awesome capture! My only complaint is with the crop. If I cybercrop it by scrolling down to just above his shoulder (in effect cropping out about the bottom quarter...), I give it another point maybe two. Great shot!

This is superbly caught, very crisp and with some lovely detail in the face. Not my kind of calendar but I bet dog lovers would really go for this.

I'm not a great fan of dog pics, but I like this one. I imagine the dog is running around chasing falling leaves. Great DoF too. 10

Lighting seems like it could be a little better (flash might be a little harsh).

I'm sorry to have offended the people of DPC (and Randy) with my doubts. Although I doubted the method at which this was achieved, I still voted this at a 7.

While I like the picture of the dog, the overall effect appears "faked". I'm assuming there is a lot of post prod. enhancement of the DOF effect. Makes the dog look unnaturally pasted in.

I thought this was great! You've really captured the fascination of the dog with the leaf, while not cluttering the shot with the background. (9)

Perfect! The way that the most obvious falling leaf is highlighted against the black area of the background (and hence stands out clearly) is excellent. The dog is beautifully captured - nice eye detail and catchlight, nice pose. Overall composition works very well. Colours of leaves against almost monotone dog also works well. An absolute gem of an image! 9

That's a great capture. I really like it. But I do feel that there's too much or less of the dog. It's a bit 'not right'. I have a feeling that something like a 6x4 crop starting from the top would work better. I don't the bottom half of the image, but the toip half is brilliant. I think just the dog's head and the leaves would have made a better image. I feel that everything else in not really needed here. I have to bow to you for this capture. Well done.

What a wonderful catch. There was something that I was uncomfortable with while viewing so I played around with it a bit. The result: To be more impactful to me, I would have cropped the dog much closer, maybe only the neck up, so the focus is completely on the leaf and the dog's face and eyes. If you did that, I would buy a calendar with this photo as the November selection. As is, 8

Normally pets are a turn off for me, but the sharpness and the impression that the dog is looking at the falling leaf as well as the contrast of the white dog and the fall colors in the background all make this a great foto. 9.

Great capture, I tried for a whole afternoon to get a shot of a leaf falling so I know it is not easy, and with a dog staring intently, impressive indeed, I would like to see what it looks like with a tighter crop just his haed and leaf. Just curious, well done.

Wonderful lighting and depth of field! S/he just pops out of the shot. The colors are great and the white dog contrasts nicely with them. The leaf in action and the dog watching carefully is a wonderful interaction. The catchlight in the eye is great too. Only thing I'm not sure about is the composition. The cropped out feet makes it feel a little odd. Having the entire legs/feet in or even the entire dog would be good or else cropping out the legs but I cant decide if that causes it to lose some dynamics or not. Even so, it's a fun, well-shot image!

Beautiful capture - great timing! I love how the white dog pops out from the colored leaves. The one leaf right above the the dogs face/ear is just a bit distracting. Nicely done, though and good luck!
