Photographer’s Notes
On a road trip in October, my wife and I stopped for the night in Boise, Idaho. Not the center of the known world but a charming town.

We wandered around, visited the capital, shot some photos, had a nice dinner, and after a magical evening, we’re off to our next destination the following morning.

Downtown Boise has the usual collection of infrastructure elements like trash cans, power poles, street lights and so forth. Many are painted to make them more interesting. So too, this transformer box.

I know this will happen: I will get harsh comments about doing nothing original here. Simply exploiting an image created by others. So be it. Screw it, I like the photo as I liked the original art. After all, the challenge is Art of 2016 and this is certainly art.

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge

How right you were with your prediction! So, having got over that, your record shot of someone else's art is, as you say, 'this is certainly art' that we are all now able to appreciate so thanks for recording it for our pleasure. There really are some extremely talented street artists out there whose works are there to give us pleasure on a daily basis. I am fortunate enough to experience such pleasure with a nearby building that never ceases to brighten up my day every time I see it. Thanks for sharing.

While the photographed subject may indeed be "art", to me the image is only a photograph of someone else's art, and not "art" itself.

Lots of riotous color here. However, the fact that it is already artwork that you found, it could use a bit more of your own interpretation.

someone else's artwork, not yours
