 Ever wonder what the park would do with all those slash piles? Action was taken today. Park personnel chose favorable, prescribed burn weather to burn many dozens of wood pyramids. Snow covered the ground and there was a gentle, moist breeze from the East. The Upper Beaver Meadows area was well marked as "Management Burn" or "Prescribed Burn". 02/24/17 11:32am. Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon EF400mm f/4 DO IS II USM, 1/1250s@f/8, ISO 400, lens focal length 400mm. The "shimmer" of distorted air above the fire is what attracted me to photograph this scene.
