These are dall sheep at Denali National Park (as Ubique had correctly guessed). I'm not really keen on wildlife photography but we we're camping in the park for a few days and this photo opportunity just sort of presented itself. It was freezing cold and snowing, with only lichen and twigs as their sustenence but these sheep were just sitting on top of this pass, without a care in the world. It is this type of resilience that has allowed them to thrive for centuries in this unforgiving landscape.

Beautiful animals. Looks like that's a pretty background on a sunny day :)

Nice coloring. The animals fit in perfectly with the moody scene

A great find and beautiful scenery, I just wish at least one of them was looking at you, to make it more personal.

This is my top pick for the challenge. It's more than just a portrait of wild animals; it's about who they are, rather than simply what they look like. That's a dimension that is lamentably missing from so many wildlife portraits: the proper environmental context. This spectacular environment is not just awe-inspiring to look at, it also tells the viewer a lot about the sheep; their life style, their adaption, what their physical skills must be like. Are they Dall sheep from around Denali perhaps? The other possibility is Tibetan Argali sheep but that seems improbable. My money's on Alaska. Really wonderful, absorbing wildlife photography. Thank you.
