I knew I wanted to shoot something with flowers, but the problem was the dearth of the colors I associate with Van Gogh's paintings, plus a lack of good light for most of the shooting period. I shot this in pretty poor light and hoped that the yellow of the cypress would help give the image a bit more of a "Mediterranean feel" rather than a "Cape Cod feel".
I love how stately allium looks when in bloom, and also liked that they provide a complementary color to the cypress.
