Taken at the fish pier in Chatham in the late afternoon. The sun was finally beginning to break through after a very foggy day.

In the lower part of the image which I cropped off there were even more birds plus 5 or 6 large seals competing for the bits of fish that ended up overboard as the day's catch was unloaded from the boat on the left.

Thanks for the comments and votes. I had the same feelings that several commenters expressed. It is a very "busy" picture, something I would usually try and avoid, but I felt that in this instance it worked for the challenge topic.

At it's highest the score was over 6.8 and it was above 6.77 for most of the last 24 hours so it was within a hair's breadth of being the image to finally bump my Pareidolia entry down one position, something I would dearly like.

Congratulations Penny. I love the sense of story in this. And I think it would make an awesome 'big picture'.

I'll admit, should have looked at it longer and given you something better than 6. On second and third looks, it's grown on me. Congrats on HM!

Congrats on the HM! The busy is what makes this stand out.

Thanks for the comment Wendy. The "noise" is actually the moisture in the atmosphere! It was still very foggy, having been extremely foggy all day, and it was finally starting to lift. That may be less obvious perhaps as I lightened the foreground a bit.

My 1st impression was "too busy" but after lingering a little longer I started to feel the energy come through, congratulations.

I should have looked at this more carefully. A second look tells me I should have scored it higher. Nicely done!

So much going on here! Probably "cluttered" and "too busy", but I love it!

I find this a very compelling image. There's a lot going on, but the eye is always drawn back to the man in the boat; the seagulls frame him perfectly; the triangular lead-in of the boats directs the viewer very well. I feel that everything in the picture is coming at me and, like the boat driver, I am heading against the tide, so to speak.

A wonderful immediacy with terrific depth. You can almost hear the shrieking of the gulls and the muttering of the motorboat.
