 From a philosophical point of view, the right fist represents the Sun (Yang), while the left hand is the Moon (Yin): by greeting, you perform the symbolical union between Yin and Yang. The ideogram formed by the union of Sun and Moon is pronounced Ming (¨C¾), which means bright, clear: if you could put together the two brightest objects of the sky into such a small gesture, for sure you would hold a lot of light in your hands!
