"Everything shifts as you move, and different things come into focus at different points of your life, and you try to articulate that"
- Chris Steele-Perkins -

It's pretty hard to emulate any photogapher let alone the greats on Magnum...the only thing I can say about this image is that there are a lot of different characters in it, and one can stare at this for a long time to work them all out!

Post challenge, kind of shocked that this got the blue since it plummeted in the last couple of days. Thanks for the three comments, Mariuca was spot on!

We frequently visit Fremantle on any given time as it's a short drive from our house. They normally have people perform on the street, and I've always wanted to enter a photo from this location. The guy was doing all sorts of firebreathing, juggling type acts, and I thought that the eclectic bunch of people watching him interested me immensely. My favourite is the girl smack bang in the middle with long black hair looking decidedly bored, also the girl to the right with the glasses has a very similar "when is this going to finish look on her face"

Ps: it would possibly be only a dream come true if anyone would ever end up working for Magnum.

An out-take that I considered also, not for Chris Steele-Perkins but another photographer which escapes me at present. He has an image of a guy with fixated eyes like the little girl to the bottom left with the curly dark hair.

Your outtake is good, but I find the eclectic group in your entry more compelling. Congrats on the ribbon. Something that strikes me about both images -- I only see one or two phones. It seems like these days, I could not have captured a crowd this size in Chicago that didn't have several phones out. It makes me wonder if the girl holding the phone and drink is the sole American tourist in the group. ;)

My favorite thing about this shot is the feet position of the girl drinking on the far right. She could be a photo all on her own!

I didn't vote on this challenge because as I looked through Magnum's site. I realized I was totally ignorant about these famous people and wouldn't be able to come close to their works.
Congratulations on your winning place. A job well done.

That is a picture that keeps me looking for a very long time. Everyone seems to be waiting but looking at directions. Is it a crowd watching a street artist?. That girl with her untied laces, a big slurpee and X legs is worth a portrait on her own. My favorite for the top 3. A 9 from me

What a find! One has to spend time to look at the cast of characters. Too bad about the increased sharpening and its haloes
