|I began my attempts at an entry for the Dada challenge with the idea of capturing a Dadaist collage-like image in a single long exposure, by inserting objects into the frame and/or moving objects around in the frame during the exposure. This method utilizes so-called "chance procedures" to create accidental imagery, Chance being one of the pillars of Dada technique. What I chose to run with wasn't exactly the collage look I originally envisioned, but I like the result just the same.
Single exposure, using Canon EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. Camera on tripod and on Bulb setting, 207 second exposure at f/10, ISO 800 with an ND 3.0 filter attached to lens.
Using two small figurines of Easter Island moai I had at hand, I placed one in the extreme foreground and focused on that, and the second sat immediately behind the first, at a slightly different position. Over the course of the exposure, I shifted both foreground and background objects to 4 or 5 positions, moving from left to right.
