 The Hand of Glory is far better known in Europe and the UK than it is here. Generally it was the mummified left hand of a criminal who had hung from the gallows, a lit Hand of Glory - either with all five fingers serving as candles, or the hand clutching a single candle. Using one was supposed to put the occupants of a house into a deep sleep while robbers did their work. If someone else to hold the Hand, they would be paralyzed until the Hand was removed.

so again this unfamiliar subject matter makes this a dark horse entry that will barely scrape into the top ten. But so what. At least it got Extended treatment.

Mad a hand of glory out of a fake hand from my horse training days, with a latex glove over top of it, wax dribbled on it and yes, wicks made of wax-coated twine stuck to the ends of the fingers. Wrote occult designs on my hand with a henna pen. Used the inside of a Fisher-Price dollhouse for the interior, shot myself as both the sleeping figure and as the bad guy.

An appealing image that meets the challenge well

Well Susan, you made the top ten, well done. Once again, there is a lot of thought and effort gone into this and the end result is truly macabre. It’s all well executed and suitably spooky. I have to plead my ignorance about the hand of glory but then I must have led a very sheltered life! Once again well done Susan.
