 A juvenile Tricolored Heron (Egretta Tricolor) hunting for breakfast on the waters of Horsepen Bayou, Texas, USA...

Photograph taken while holding my camera over the side of my Ascend H12 kayak and just on the surface of the water. It was difficult following him around using the LCD to frame while he ran all over hunting. Because of that the photo has a small amount of crop when I leveled it.

It was fun watching him hunt for 1.5 hours. My lens can focus as close as 4.5 feet and he would regularly get to close for my lens to focus. He was about 23 feet away for this photograph.

Oh, the first time he came near my kayak he pecked at it like he was saying to move along, you are in my hunting spot.

Didn't get many great wildlife shots this month that I haven't already entered in a challenge. Hoping this low perspective close up shot with lots of feather detail can overcome the rather dull/flat lighting I had to deal with last Saturday.

This is also the same bird from the entry in the "Winged Things III" challenge.

An appealing image that contributes well to the open challenge

A great perspective Ronnie, the nice low shot enhances the feeling of being there with the bird. The lovely colours and feather detail add a significant impact to this lovely bird and the image as a whole. As we have come to expect from your images it is up to your usual high standards, well done
