 A Tricolored Heron (Egretta Tricolor) looks up as a hawk flies overhead while on Horsepen Bayou, Texas, USA...

Photograph taken handheld from my Ascend H12 kayak while using a Godox V860iiO and Better Beamer. I also used the 1.4x TC, giving 840mm of effective reach.

This photograph has no crop, was shot from a distance of 16.5 feet and has a DoF of 0.8 inches.

Going to be interesting to see how well this does, because I have no idea. Wish I had a good catching a fish action shot to enter.............

Should also add that he is looking up at a hawk that is flying overhead.

I just ordered a 40x30 print of this image from Mpix Pro and can't wait for it to arrive. It's going to be great seeing all that detail/texture in the feathers when it's that large.

What a lot of positive comments, a deserving image. As you say, lots of lovely detail I bet it looks good on your print. It would probably have scored if, again as you say, it was more dynamic with prey in his beak too, as it is it is still a great image, well done Ronnie
