Brancusi's well known sculptures are known by us mainly from reproductions of photo taken in perfect circumstances of light and background by very skilled photographers.
When visiting this temporary exhibit I realized that what I was seeing in that gallery was totally unique and unable to be reproduced in other places. The sculptures seem to have been awaken from a deep sleep; they reflected the ceiling, the lighting fixtures, myself, each other in an inimitable way. They reacted to the environment in a way that Brancusi himself would not have guessed.
I was struck, again, by "the object staring back".

Interesting to think about how these sculptures take on a new life every time they are moved. An element, by design, that's out of control of the artist. You found the interaction between your reflection and the sculpture engaging. I'd like to think Brancusi would enjoy seeing the fun you had viewing his work. Thanks for sharing this gallery experience. Very nice!

An interesting series. I like the play with the reflections. These sculptures are pretty cool, I must say.

Walking through your essay is like walking through the exhibition. First we get a general idea of what to expect in this art hall, then you show us more details step by step (at least that is how I felt). Your essay made me curious about Brancusi, had to get some more information immidiately
I like the patterns on the shiny surfaces, you place the reflections very clever, f.e. at #6 the reflection puts even more emphasis on the face and at #8 the ceiling forms hair... and I do love your own reflection as a human counterpoint to that metallic perfection

I like how the first two photos are you zooming from the room into the sculptures, and then we see the room again, inside the sculptures. I think your essay successfully communicates just how brilliant this exhibit is, and this sculptor.
