Challenge: Black & White II (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: (Fort MacArthur) - San Pedro, CA
Date: Nov 11, 2004
Aperture: f/8
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/640
Galleries: Sports, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Nov 14, 2004

Took a few snaps of these two kids playing basketball on some courts next to the Korean Bell of Friendship at Fort MacArthur (San Pedro, CA). Never really take candids/shots of people I don't know, and only took a few out of shyness.

this is just stunning - get over that shyness and go shoot more like this! been on my favorites for a long time, and realized I hadn't commented. This is one of those shots that defines in my mind why photography is so magic - to snatch such a dramatic moment out of everyday life is magic indeed.

Had this photo high on my list and expected it in the top 3. The composition and light is so strong + the kids throwing the ball makes it come alive.

Ah, should have moved the camera to the right just a little, so the ball is not right in the middle... would have been a 10. AS it is -- a 9.

I love the simplicity of this photo. Great background and the dramatic swooping shape of the basket.

Perfectly frozen in time, this image. I love the way the boys are looking at a seemingly motionless ball - will it hang thee forever or ... score 10 points?

Nice shot. Great line in the post that holds up the basketball hoop, the arch of the ball, and the shooter's arm which completes the arch. The stance of the observer adds just the right interest. This is a fantastic shot. Your title is perfect. Nice job!

This is a great shot. The location is excellent. The poses (probably natural too) are great. I can't see any way to improve this image. Good job!

Interesting semi-silhouette aspect yet enough detail to add interest. A great interplay of the shapes of the two boys, the net and the ball itself. Intriguing coastal location too.

NIce use of negative space. The strong light and shadows also make this interesting.
