Greetings from the Critique Club!

Hi! This is a wonderful shot and a good subject for the challenge. What jumps out at me as possible flaws are lighting and shadows.

The glare on the top left part of the circle behind the cross is very distracting. Not sure if that is a spot light or flash glare but it really hurt the shot to me. Also all the shadows, it adds too much to the shot, it becomes confusing and distracting. I do like the angle of the shot and the conversion to black and white works very well with this shot. Just a touch more contrast could really make this shot pop.

Hope this helps!

Zoomdak, I was horrified to see the final score and comments. I applaud your choice of subject and felt you portrayed our Hero in a very artisitic way. The whole Hero challenge was a very profound statement on our time! I shared it with my SS class today. I gave you a high score during the challenge, but didn't have time to leave a comment. I hope that with 2 blue ribbons under your belt you won't become discouraged because of this :-)

Di

i like the use of the lighting and shadow to create drama within the subject.
i don't like the angle as much it seems that these types of shots always have more power when the cross it shot from the bottom up.
try it sometime its a diffrent angle thats all.

well done good choice of subject matter.

Good lighting and I like the shadows and the use of B&W. I also love your subject. Top circle a little burned out but overall a great job.

I am a believer, but see NOTHING heroic about this picture whatsoever
