We all have to live with losses in mind. It often hurts. Still, I would say it is important to cherish our memories. Compared to photos or videos, they can be inaccurate, partial, blurry, fading with time... yet they are precious. When one imagines those moments, one can live them again, over and over.

As some noticed, I took a break from photography, for various personal reasons. However, a few weeks ago, a friend of mine who is having fun in a theater troupe asked me to create the poster for their next musical. It was great fun, I love the experience, and it hooked me back. So here am I, we'll see how low it lasts this time.

Regarding DPC and the comments some made here, I personally still enjoy the place. It gives me great excuses to scratch my head for ideas, get out and enjoy the fresh air while exploring for shooting locations. Yes, some votes are low, but as they say, haters gonna hate. I just ignore the persons disliking my stuff, and enjoy the kind votes/comments from the other ones :) Creating pictures provides me much pleasure, stopping due to negative feedback is simply not happening.

I believe that we are here for the love of photography as gyaban shows in his work, specialized for a while in "extended editing".
There are lots of challenges here of all kinds in which to participate and vote and more importantly, to articulate an opinion.

"Haters" or taking the pulse of an image by its average score is superfluous.
When does any work of art get an unanimous acclaim or its fair/unfair share of rotten tomatoes thrown at it?

Awesome creation. Congrats.
I was so impressed with your creation when I joined DPC last year.
Great to see your work again.

Congratulations on the ribbon, and so great to see you back again!
I haven't been entering much either, but still try to check in on challenge entries/results as often as I can. It was such a nice surprise to see one of your entries in the mix :)

The fact Gyaban has an entry doesn't automatically means he should win. I do love his creations and would like to have the ability to achieve something that's only 10% of the quality he delivers. But in this specific challenge I think the Blue Ribbon is well deserved by Art, it really meets the challenge and is well executed.
But the low numbers of participants is becoming more and more an issue and the same with the low number of votes. And I'm sure that a couple of people that vote is voting low just because they can or maybe to benefit their own entry. Maybe there should be a commitment to write a comment when you give 1-3 and also when you give 8-10 (works both ways), but we all know that's not going to happen, causing more and more people to turn their back to the site :-(

It is a pity as Bear is working extremely hard to keep this site going with his new big title of Administrator, but without big additions of new ideas and their implementation in code (!!), it is mission impossible. Sorry, Bear, but this is the current reality. Your work is very appreciated.

A very fine image, obviously deserving a much higher score as it would have happened when we had 100+ votes in each challenge and few low votes wouldn't make much difference.

PS My membership expires in a few days, I may let it lapse and maybe come for one month when I get motivated.

Exactly my mind. This site doesn't please me anymore. And I don't know the solution to it

A fascinating tour de force that speaks for itself. I have some confusion, but perhaps that's a result of slapping rationality onto dream, myth. Is water the home state being left behind by the shattered woman? Could she be coming together? Is this a take on Orpheus and Eurydice? Maybe it's better to set thinking aside.
But this is fabulous. The disintegration, the yearning hands, the gorgeous blue and green, the textures, the mood -- all superb.
One of two personal favorites of the challenge.

It cannot be. Do we have a Christophe appearance?? If so, you've been deeply missed.

Love this image. Great concept, and of course - gyaban-level pp'g.

The greens are divine.
