When I checked out at the third grocery store I'd been to... with this amazing vegetable, the checker said to me, "This is no good."
I laughed and said, "I'm not going to eat it, Daisy, I'm going to shoot it. And, I've looked all over town for it!

But, I really thank you for helping me!"

(I had not yet seen that he was a manatee, at the time, but... I had seen his face and I knew that he was something.)

She said the same thing about the next jewel/non-"normal" vegetable that I'd found and wanted to buy.

Then, on the third, she said, "Someone's not doing a very good job in our produce department!" with a scowl on her face.

LOL!

I replied, "And I'm so happy about that!"

Daisy must think I'm nuts.

But... she's had a long time to evaluate me... so, she's probably right.

LOL!

As an aside, I texted our four offspring with this photo and asked them what animal this was (trying to make sure it looked like a manatee).

One of them texted back with a video of "Barbara Manatee" from "Silly Songs with Larry" on VeggieTales of their young childhood videos.

Ha!

They're all old... and they're referencing Barbara Manatee. Ha! I love it! LOL!

ETA:

Oh dang! They're not at all old. They're quite young, in fact! I got married when I was two.

Yup. That's my story.

ETA more: Here's my favorite "Silly Songs with Larry" song. ("Barbara Manatee" is not my favorite, but still kinda fun for a silly song):

Where is my Hairbrush?
Let me know what you think Larry should have done.

P.S. I skewered the manatee with a grilling skewer into a block of Styrofoam to hold him up. I'm sorry to admit it... but, I did.

WHERE is my hairbrush??!

Dadgumit!
