This is a candid shot and the photographer was looking at a painting while Louise Bourgeois' sculptures with spiders were looming in the background. I don't know if the spider was sold - it was an auction previewing

We see so little when looking through a camera viewfinder. That giant spider would be spotted easily in his peripheral vision. It's been said the camera is a tool to help us learn to see. That's what I find humorous about your image. While he was focused on documenting a piece of art you saw this moment.

lush blacks and whites on the man who, incidentally, looks exactly like my neighbour from eons ago. he could be there - at least as likely as the spider.

I usually enjoy a visual element near the edge going straight out of frame. this is no exception.

Alfred Hitchcock! Down to the coat draped over his arm as belly, this is just the style I'd expect from him. You've nicely caught the somewhat absurd tension of the oblivious photographer (and we've all been there) and the looming threat. Perfect angle from man to spider. I like the tones and detail of his hair, the spider's shadow, his hearing aid - which adds to the sense of obliviousness - and the paisley shirt, swimming with enormous paramecia that may be what the spider is stalking. A wild and delicious story handsomely executed. No pun intended, of course.

When I look at this all I can think about is my arachnophobic sister. She would be in all kinds of trouble.

Ohhh, I hardly even noticed the spider. ;-)

This is very Hitchcockesque to me.

This is both funny and disturbing at the same time.

At least it seems to be moving away from him.

Must be something pretty interesting off to the left!
