 thankyou so much everyone for your lovely comments during voting ..
this result has been a real surprise .. a really good one . !! ..

i was quite unsure about entering this as i knew there would be some AMAZING photos entered especially as ppl could enter archival photos ..
this was taken the day before voting while i was walking on the firetrail .. actually looking for something for foliage .. noticed some dead gum leaves that had fallen from the tree .. very unassuming and unattractive .. gotta love photoshop .. !! .. ;)

i nearly unsubmitted it a few minutes before it went in for voting as i felt what i liked about it . the darkness .. the colours .. and sombre feeling might not be appealing to others . .

i did ask a good friend .. you know who you are .. an opinion on whether i should enter it or the one during a hail storm at my home .. i went with his recommendation .

Congrats on 4th. It is well deserved in a challenge with many excellent submissions. Either one of your choices would have done well. They are both unique and beautiful.
