My son wore his "Puppy Dog" suit all day. Wouldn't take it off. Waffled on whether to submit with the chocolate leftovers on this face...it was a spur of the moment shot.

To me this photo has a real "snapshotish" feel to it because of what I assume is a flash pointed directly at the subject (cute btw). Also the little white points in the costume or jacket distract from the face of your subject. I don't know if this is from in camera sharpening or post procesing.

As far as the crop goes: I would have tried to cut out the rest of the toy, doll, whatever he is holding in his left hand as it is also a distracting element.

As always this is IMO.

Good luck too you.

This is a wonderful Close up, it’s a shame about the Red Eye, a few minutes extra in the editing and this would be a really good image

Knowing how kids just LOVE to be photographed (that's sarcasm), this must have been one of those "from the hip" shots. Course, I wasn't there and you might not have had to do it like that.

The way he's leaining works to make the photo more interesting and realistic--one can imagine him in the midst of playing with his...Woody character?
