She has one of the most beautiful expressions I've seen in a portrait. This is a lovely image and I can certainly see why you'd feel it was your best of '04 :)

Lighting and exposure are good. Pose doesn't look quite natural for playing, but it's been a long time since I've watch someone play one up close. It looks to me as though extra sharpening may have been applied aroung the eyes, and for me it's just a little too much, but maybe that's just excellent focusing with good glass and my imagination : )

A very neat image, the color tones are very soft and soothing and the expression in her eyes is great too. thanx for sharing

Hmmm, thought I commented on this one but it has popped up again, basically what I said was that this girls eyes are incredibly engaging, and the lighting you have used accentuates that well - they almost twinkle. The fact that she is staring straight at the lens however, makes the violin seem almost extraneous. Still on the stength of those eyes its a seven.

Beautiful portrait. Absolutely stunning eyes. I just wish that small piece of hair was out of her eye. Not marking down for that though. Great work.

You can see lots of noise on her face and in her eyes, which is too bad because her eyes are amazing.

It´s a pretty good portrait with good tones and framing but I am guessing the face is dodged to get it that much brighter and drags it down a notch, at least IMO.

Beautiful model and I love the expression. The focus or post processing seems just a bit off but I really like this picture none the less. Great job.

Love the angles ... the violin, the bow, the placement of the girl within the photo. And how about those eyes?!? A lovely portrait to be sure! Good luck on the challenge!

Beautiful slightly sepia soft tones... I like how she sort of melts into the background, but I'm slightly distracted by the quite bright light on her left shoulder behind the violin... it takes away some from the softness of the photo. beautiful eyes which really pop... I also would like to have seen how a slightly darker hue on her lips might have made them pop just a bit, although I would worry that would take away from her innocence. Nicely done.

Contrast is a tad strong for my monitor. Nice composition otherwise.

As a musician, it really pains me to see somebody with such a forced pose, obviously not playing. I'd much prefer to see a spontaneous expression as a result of a special moment within some music.

I simply love it. Excellent lightning. Peetty so many jpeg artifacts in the face. A winner to me.

Big beautiful eyes! They are penetrating. I like the comp. and tones. Nice choice for sepia.

I like the composition with the violin going out of the frame and the striker (I am Dutch) creating a strong diagonal. The eyes pop out, very special and the face stands out because of the brighness. It is just the tone of the color that I dislike, it is a sad tone, takes the live out of the picture. 7

Beautiful shot but the hair coming into the right eye is very distracting. The picture appears to be a little over sharpened tho.

nice lighting and a pretty pose. her eyes seem oversharpened though and I wish her bow hand wasn't cropped out of the frame

Damn, those eyes! One woudl almost swear they'd been enlarged in post-processing, jejeje. I knwo they aren't, but htey are other-worldly. I love the shifting tonalities on the bowstrings. I wish the shiulder weren't getting lost lower left. Fine image.

I think the halo/gradient of the background is slightly misplaced.. making the left side of her head a little too dark. Of course, I say this knowing that my lighting techniques can never even approach what you've done here.
