Congratulations on your 11th placing with this very unique image which curls the corners of the mouth at once but then leaves the mind wondering. Very good work.

An excellent picture. It reminds me of your self portrait 'Surreal Ironing'. As others said, this should have scored higher. Good work.

This should have placed higher IMO, knew it was yours too!

I'm wondering whether I'm biased about this photograph as I knew instantly who the author was and he happens to be a terrific photographer as well as a fellow Icelander. ;)

Anyway, I frankly can't understand how this picture could score so low and end up in the 11th place! It's a good photograph, cute model, a bit surreal as well as funny, it has nice colors and composition, and there is no face showing.

The only two reasons I could come up with to justify this picture's low score is that the model's face is cut off the frame instead of it being "faceless" in the strictest sense, and perhaps some people consider vacuuming at this certain place not to be an exactly normal activity (well, for people like Árni and Brynja, I'm sure it is normal to iron and vacuum at strange locations ...).

I gave you a 10 you should have gotten a ribbon. Excellent work. I guessed it was yours and was right.

I seem to recall a "surreal ironing" or something along those lines from another challenge. I like this one better though. Great colors, love the pose, it's really briliant if you ask me :)
01/30/2005 06:56:36 PM
Certainly surreal, think the foreground might have been a little brighter .If the background is real, which I suspect it is, I hope you paid your model well! Excellent and one of my favorites.
01/30/2005 05:04:24 AM
I hope to see this in the top 10, top 5. Spectacularly random subject matter, I love it!

I really think this is a cool shot. I think you got pretty creative with the background. Im not really digging the fact that she is vacuming rocks. I do get that it is "stepping out of the box", but I think I would rather see her in a setting that actually needs vacuming. Of course that is just a housewife's point of view. But the overall image is really great. I am going to give it a 9.

Very creative and original. I hope you have one of these with the model's head in it. Too bad it had to be cropped like this for the challenge. You should keep working with this idea as it has many interesting and creative possibilities.

i like this. its a lot of fun...it reminds me of a commerical for a TV
01/26/2005 04:21:12 PM
And what exactly made you think of this? :) Your mind must be an interesting place! -9

LOL. Is this arnit's? It reminds me off his self portrait where he's ironing in a similarly ridiculous setting. This is tremendous work and one of my top picks in the challenge. 10

Cut shot but the border is distracting.

I'm almost absolutely sure who'se photograph this is - I can say that!
Nice action on part of the model and a terrific dress as well.
I like how the frame cuts across the face slightly above the chin.

If I had any dough to my name I'd beg ya to sell me this print! This is so up my alley...I just love it! I hope this gets first place. If it's doesn't make top three I'll just...just...be very very confused.

Anyway, great job. 10, as if I had to say that ahaha.

I scored this high on my scale but I just don't think this is normal human activity in the location that you shot it. But it is interesting and a good photo in general.

Brilliant shot with great imagination. The red is really strong as is the perfect balance to the muted colors throughout the rest of the scene. Should see a ribbon --- 10.

Arnit? if not, a nicely done homage to the master of quirky portraits :) I can't tell you how much i love this. Need to know how you lit it...reflectors? of did you actually haul lights out there? anyway - so cool. the only 10 i've given in the last 5 or 6 challenges i've voted on.

One of the very first lessons I learned in photography was not to cut heads off. I think that includes this challenge as well. Personlly, this disturbs me. Sorry!
01/24/2005 10:02:30 AM
Nice settings and exposure. But it makes me wonder if this is faceless or headless. It's the crop or how you have composed that makes me be a bit unsure.

I love the imagery here, this is a great picture.
I wish it was slightly more saturated. (just a gnats thingermejiggy though)

Heh, I smell a series coming on.

What I like about it is the lighting; on the rocks, the vacuum cleaner and the model, and the DOF is spot on -- it almost looks like a studio shot. Great colors, too.

The frame is a tad on the heavy side though, and it makes the photo look smaller than it actually is.
