 A bulb of garlic on a kitchen scale; door of the microwave to provide the black background. Handheld in macro mode.
Cloned you a couple of dust/dirt spots and a small reflection.
RGB Curve, extracted the Green Channel to a Grayscale file; USM at 88%/0.8 dia/TH=5; JPEG=9/10

Challenge was for any definition of the word "light", which I think this qualifies perfectly. Seriously underrated photograph.

Thanks! -- for a change it seems a lot of people felt disposed towards humor : )

I'd actually had this idea in mind for a long time (months) but, as usual, had to scramble at the last minute to find the scale and get the shot in. (Lack of) focus on the scale I think is due to DOF issues, as I was most concerned with the light/focus on the garlic itself (pretty good, I thought); plus, the scale is pretty ugly in color.

And I have this other idea for the next time we have a "Light" -related challenge ... of course I forgot to use it this time : )

Original and fun. Wish you could have blurred out the background a bit more to get rid of those extra shadows. But a great idea. Love your sense of humor. Keep it up!

Great idea, but I hope the voters don’t “punish” you for this one. As for the photo pretty good but the focus seems a little soft on the scale.
