Edited after challenge:

Thanks to everyone for all of the great comments. I was not sure how well this would do; I decided to enter it at the last minute and had only the jpg available and a laptop with a questionable screen. I tried to get it dialed in more by looking at the histogram than anything else.

The bridge I am photographing here is a railroad bridge that has no name and spans the James River in Richmond, VA. I had to stop my car at rush hour to get the shot from a parallel bridge, which I have done before. So far no tickets :-)

more of a sky photo than a bridge one. The vantage point you chose should been one where the bridge fills most of the frame

This is pretty, but it always feels a little off when the background element lines up with the subject (the top of hills with top of bridge - my eye stops right there.) Perhaps, an angle for camera lower or higher would have caused more eye-flow.

Absolutely gorgeous. Lots of interesting details to look at, and the bridge is perfectly positioned to make for an appealing picture.

Love the sky. Great silhouette of the bridge and well done to get detail in the foreground, when it's too easy with this kind of shot to leave it completely dark.

Love the sunglare. I would have loved to have seen more of the sky THROUGH the bridge. Not sure you really wanted to stand in the water though.

Dramatic sky, nice, provides a great background for the bridge as a profile.

Even though it's a slender ribbon running acros the middle of the photo, the bridge succeeds in making the photo something. I'm a sucker for sunsets and water, so I love this shot.

great contrast between beautiful sky and debris in water.

Very nice sunset and a nice bridge.

02/16/2005 09:28:50 AM
A lower angle that would have put the bridge above the horizon would have made this shot. Otherwise, well done.
