Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter.

------------------------------------------------

This was a fun challenge. I love Black and White photography. Trying to mimic Ansel Adams style is indeed a challenge.

I shot this in Black and White to check the light and contrast. I ended up using a color exposure because it simply gave me more options.

I love places that have been magically landscaped by the hand of God. So perfectly placed to bring unsurpassed beauty to even the most undesirable weeds.

A very nice piece of terrain. Apparant at once is evidence of the 1 and 10th zone, however, the image remains trapped between the 1 and 5th zones and then jumps to the 9th. A case where the high contrast has trashed the nobler tones to make the image shine. The place remains beautiful enough for another bump in the score.

The mountains are wonderfully sharp and the sky is nothing short of dramatic. The foreground, to me, doesn't look as sharp - perhaps a bit of extra sharpening in this area?

I haven't checked this with a densitometer, but I think the brightest highlights could be just a tiny bit whiter. Excellent job with the shadow and mid-tone details! I also like how this shows such a variety of terrain; water, flatlands, steep mountains, and sky. I don't know what's in the view off to the left, but maybe rotating the view a bit that way would eliminate that light patch of hillside on the right edge -- I don't think that adds much, and sometimes seems almost a distraction. I like it a lot overall.

One of only two 10s
Composition:great central focus framed by the two peaks - a sense of isolation and three dimensions.
Post-Proc.: Tonally very dark but detail maintained skillfully...just enough light to balance mood. Sharpening high but not too much. Exceptional burning on peaks.
Overall, reminds me of a highly detailed lithograph. A gem. Added to favourites.

Lovely scene and excellent B&W conversion. That is, very good tonality. I like the visual leading from foreground to middle to background. My only niggle is wondering if there could have been a composition that would give more foreground (visual) motion. Overall a most excellent entry.

And what a tribute it is, I think Ansel would very much approve of this. The tones are represented with amazing detail, not too soft or sharp. The tree is standing out proud in the center. If there is anything I would try different here is making the tree stand out a little more, maybe just a tad more contrast at and around the tree. I hope this will ribbon, GJ.

its a good shot, but I would take the river out completely. The diagnal line is a bit distracting from the subject of the picture.

The composition is a little too centered, and you're about one zone shy of true "pop" here, but there's much to like in this image. Good score from me.
