Challenge: Stock Photography II (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Sony DSC-V1
Location: Newyork, NY
Date: Mar 16, 2005
Aperture: 8.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 13 seconds
Galleries: Urban, Emotive
Date Uploaded: Mar 16, 2005

This a footbridge that crosses over the westside highway in Manhattan, NY. Lower Manhattan is getting so many facelifts, Ground zero is right down the block. I think this bridge is so futuristic and the lights in the concrete floor on this bridge are amazing. The reason for my title is because Lower Manhattan is being rebuilt and we are moving on. No editing was done except a USM was added. I will be shocked if this does well because I took it with the wrong aperture setting, and I think I should of went wider. I Could of got better outer focus. Hope the lighting gets it some points.

totally amazing image .. and just usm .. WOW!!! ... i'm a photoshop maniac, so there are very few photographs that i leave alone ... very very occasionally i take a photograph that is not improved with processing .. this excellent photograph of yours is one that really needs no adornment .. the blue and yellowy/orange contrast is something else .. this has so much going for it .. drama for one .. contrast ... perspective .. lighting ... etc etc etc etc !!! .. and i love your title .. :)

This is a great image from NYC. I've been looking at those locations recently with an eye to shooting something. But you certainly set a standard here.

This is beautiful and meaningful. You did a great job with the blue. Just wondering what USM is? (Sorry, still a novice at editing jargon).

Great lines and deep rich colors. Very interesting eye candy. Excellent stock shot. I can't find anything about it I would change - I even like the border! :-)

I'm shocked that this didn't receive more 10's during the challenge. And for that matter 40-5's? Some of these voters are on drugs, and not the good kind. That is a great photo, stock photography or not!

:: Hello from the Critique Club ::
............................................................

Well Tony, while I didn't vote or comment on this challenge, I have to say that your shot stood out a mile as a thumbnail - and it's no disappointment when viewed at full size.

This all goes without saying really but your photo is dynamic in its composition, colours and choice of focus. You've got some amazing lighting and you've processed it very well indeed. As a piece of stock photography it fits well enough for the a niche purpose, so no probs there either.

All in all, it's a great exposure, a strong, graphical subject and neat piece of memorable photography.

Cheers
Jon

Thank you guys for taking time to comment. This is a favorite spot of mine right down the block from the World Trade Ctr. I did not know what to expect with this, I am very happy with it's placing. Your comments mean a lot!

Great shot! Perfectly composed. Despite what you said about aperture, I like seeing this in focus all the way through. Nice lighting too.
