Just a little bit of luck. It's a 40 hour journey (with layovers) from Bangkok to Calgary. One of the 500 movies i watched on the flight had just ended so i lifted the shade to see what was out there. I was a little more than pleasantly surprised to see Mt Fuji poking its head through the clouds as we were descending into Narita. It was 7am so the sun was just peeking over the clouds.

if you look below you can see buildings which we assume are in Chiba (thanks Pug) silhouetted on the horizon. This photo doesn't do the scene justice.

Yeah it's actually the clouds that slope oddly enough. I tried forever to level them, but when i did that both Fuji and the horizon seemed off...this was sort of a happy medium :)

Outstanding! You were right! Question: Did you take this from a plane window? Looks like the markings on airliner window at the bottom. How you caught this is amazing.

Well I'm afraid I'm going to have to side with JPR on this one, if that's not doing a scene justice I don't know what is. Adding to my favourites.

Cheers

Talk about timing!! I love sunrise/sunset pics from the plane. It always looks different from the air than it does on the ground. The buildings on the horizon add to the picture. Excellent.
