Small forgotten cemetery in Glenndale. Learning photoshop. Still

Going through my entries and reading comments now that some time has passed.

This was one of those love it or hate it images. Some of you seem to have gotten where I was going. I think the score on this one is the result of the Challenge - people assumed the Cemetary was the focus of the image. It was not which is why it is background and blurred. The title of the image refers to her - she is the only thing in focus and the only thing with any color other than B&W (desating the dead leaves made the image too flat).
I put her (me actually) behind the little ground marker to hide her feet - I wanted her to look planted similar to the tombstones. I tried to get rid of the marker in post processing but my photoshop skills were REALLY poor. Not that they've improved - I STILL don't know what masking is. :)
Thank you to all who commented - I really appreciated your input and will use it to rework the image.

Was trying to find another pic without comments, but this one stood out too much. The desat/out of focus background really emphasises what (I think) you were trying to do, the faded tombstones symbolise faded memories and how sometimes they can all blur together, or even fade into the background. It is the person that is in the here and now, she is not faded and is not forgotten. Great work.

I've looked at this picture several times. It always moves me for some reason. I like your other pics also in your portofilio

Beautiful shot. Love the tones and composition. The erectness of the model is outstanding, really establishing an artistic mood. Nice job.

I like this one. Her cascading hair helps add to the texture. I like the colorization of her singly, amidst the sad gray of the cemetery.

One of those shots that just sits and grows on you.
The more I look at it, the more I like this - a lot!

(forgot all about this one and just recently crossed paths with it)

This is a beautiful image. The spot by your foot is a little distracting, but reading your comments, fully understand it! Been there, done that! ;)

What really struck me though, is when looking at this image, my first thought was, how the heck did she get Lorena McKennitt to pose for her!

There's life in this picture. That what differs from the others. Very good work.

This is my second go-around =) - I really like your take on the challenge. I just wish there was a little more contrast... you need some dark blacks and white whites. I would also like to see the girl a little more in focus. However, overall I think you did a good job =)

I really thought I'd see more of this type of thing during this challenge, but since I havn't props to you! Great glow on the grass, like the soft nature of the entire shot. It looks as though you've masked her out of this layer. I like it

I am making two passes on this Challenge. I will vote on your photo then return later(before voting is over) to comment on what I like and dislike about your shot. You can take the comments however you wish and I will try not to be mean. Just don't take it the wrong way.

Looks smoky. Not very clear. Good composition though.

nice capture but would have liked the woman to be a bit sharper focus

Brilliant - this could be the still from a movie - in any case done with a lot of empathy and an "eye for the moment". Would have desaturated everything except the figure - the brownish leaves on the ground distracts a bit from the overall effect. Lighting is excellent.

Excellent use of colour. Near the girl's foot there is a blown out patch? Can't see what it is, but if you have PS it should have been cloned out.

Um, doesn't look "forgotten" if someone is there visiting them... :)

Title is a bit ironic given the person standing & remembering. Lack of contrast hurts this photo. So does the fact that nothing seems to be in focus.

I love this! Color and comp just perfect - something weird with her feet though and that white thing next to it 8
