So far this is best of show for this viewer in spite of the obnoxiously distracting white border. You managed to take what appears to be a blown out sky and use it to actually set a mood to this shot. It looks like you used a fish eye lens, but I'm not sure if it truly was or if it's a trick of the eye and the framing of the tree... Unfortunately I can't give you my highest score because of the frame. I find it very distracting and pulls my eye away from the image itself. Oh did I mention the awesome tonality?
Kudos

I like the color tone and the framing of this image. I think the sky is a little bright, but if you compensated for it, the building would be too dark... so you made the right choice of exposure for this time of day. Good luck 8

Uncle Jessie and Daisy should be back soon...coot coot coot..I like the photo very hazard county-ish

Very nice composition. I love the sweep of the tree limb, and the sepia tone.

good composition, i do think the white is a little overblown

A very nice shot but the contrast of the sky is to bright. It washes some of the detail out of the photo(building. It is nicely framed and one of the more beautiful photos I have seen with a landscape view but it really doesn't look abandoned. Good luck in this challenge.

good use of tree to frame the house.

You made good use of the surroundings to give this great image a fine setting. 10

Nice use of the trees to frame this photo. I like the use of the sepia toning. Well done.

I like the soft appearance in this photo and how you use the trees to frame the abandoned house. Great work!

Very good composition. It's too bad the sun is so bright. I really like this one.

The tree almost seems to form a sad Jugendstil style element over the house and barn. Good composition, love the warm tone.

Great nostalgic atmosphere here.

This picture brings you the past ...

A superb period shot. Well done. Perfect composition. I love the washed out lighting. I keep waiting for a Model T Ford to drive into the scene.

liking the "old photo" look with the border, not liking the "I"ve been sharpened" look, the image is quite attractive overall.

great colour tone. I find the sky is just a bit too bright, but very good overall - 7

awesome! is this infrared? (Im interested in that)
04/14/2005 01:16:11 PM
Unbelievable...this shot is like a still movie, thoughts of lemonade summers and mosquitos come to mind.
04/14/2005 01:05:30 PM
Nice shot. Good choice of sepia. Lighting's good. Nice framing with the trees. Don't care for the border - feel like it overwhelms the pic. Like the choice of soft focus.

Lovely picture. The sky is overexposed but I really love it. For me it's worth a 9.
04/14/2005 01:26:22 AM
The sun/lighting is so bright through the trees that we lose some of the features of this building.
04/13/2005 11:13:28 PM
Nice use of natural framing!

Nice, gloomy and peaceful, to bad about this place being abandoned...
04/13/2005 04:46:58 AM
nice

this is a stand out shot only problem is the large amount of burned out sky, could have been remedied with a ND or Grey Grad filter,. 8
04/13/2005 03:56:57 AM
Awesome shot. I love the composition and the soft lighting.
04/13/2005 03:31:23 AM
really nice framing of the composition here. the misty quality of it works well with the completely blown sky, which I'm sure there was little you could do about. Evocative and effective, serene and appealing.
04/13/2005 01:38:28 AM
nice place!! very old! no?
04/13/2005 12:58:51 AM
a little too much on the border, and sky is blown out (overwhelmingly), but I like the tones and texture.
