Lovely shot. I think the gosling is an adorable free study.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I was a little lazy with this shot (didn't think it would do that well) and didn't remove the speck or enhance the catchlights in his eyes

I have an altered version on my site:

Chris

PS/ for those wondering it is actually a gosling, I just thought chick was more spring like!

how cute is this! and, once you get past the cute factor, you realize, hey, this is a good image as well. very nicely done. soft where it needs to be, but not so much as to lose the detail that give the textures life. hope this does well for you. good luck!

What a little puffball poppet! You've captured this flawlessly - love it. Should've retouched the speck though. (Doh!)

Good use of shallow DOF, I like it

Would be more compelling with some curve work to make the chick's color really pop.

How sweet and cute. I like the way you can see each downy litte feather, what perfect focus. One of my favorites in this challenge.

Stunningly sharp. Not particularly imaginative composition though.

Beautifully detailed, and controlled tones too. Fine work. Background just a little dominant? Could have been muted more? And I wonder if, for a dpc audience, it wouldn't want for a little contrast - just to give a fraction more punch to the colours and the fine textures. I like it muted though - but the background, personally, I would have dealt with - just a touch, unnoticeably (hopefully).

How ADORABLE! WOw this is so cute and beautiful. I wish that small speck of dust on its right breast (camera left) would have been cloned out, but this shot is perfectly beautiful. 10. I must +fav it.

I heard chicks dig photographers. This is a nice shot - only thing is maybe cropped too tight - confined - can't breathe. Sounds pretty artsy, huh? Seriously though - cropped a bit too close. Great job though.
