 taken in my living room against the wall. tulip was from my yard. i could not find a white milk glass bud vase so i used a wine glass. light was a bit of oustide overcast light and a Metz 54 with Lightsphere II in e-ttl mode. Camera was in manual mode.

im not usually a huge fan of flower photos but this one definitely has the coolness factor. nice work!

Just cruising some portfolios and saw this. I like it's simplicity. The yellow background is perfect for this. It is subdued just enough to compliment the yellow edges of the flower without competeing with it. Very well done.

Very simple, effective composition, but the glass drops you down a couple of rungs on the ladder in my book. Otherwise a really great job.

I enjoy this photo, although there are numerous tulip photos... the yellow background is a pretty original idea though, nice shot

I will say that this is a fine capture of minimalism. I like how the flower goes into the frame from the left side of the photo and just leads it out there into the negative space. we are not run out of the photo by any distracting crap and the background is solid making it also not distracting. Lighting is great. No hot spots, no shadows. Focus and clarity are also wonderful. We get some nice detail in the flower and leaves. Lovely color by the way. Excellent shot. I vote it high.

My FAVORITE flower!! ya know, I like the composition, but what do you think about the base of the glass being shown? I can't put my finger on why exactly, but I feel like it would help. Maybe you could zoom out a little so that the flower isn't any higher than it is now. i dunno. :) 7 for having my favorite flower, and for making me happy.

it reminds me of one of my pictures. simplistic. but i wish the whole glass was in the picture. and probably a different tone of the yellow background wouldn't hurt. (7)

Very nice. I love how the yellow background is mirrored in the highlights on the tulip. And the lines of the flower draw the eye nicely into the frame.
