Greetings from the Critique Club.

Thank you for entering your photo to the DPChallenge, Jewelry Advertisement.

Very nice capture of the black pearls displayed on sand and seashells.
Great compositional idea's. I am sure that many voters will find this presentation appealing.

Technically a hard shot to pull off. Their is a lot white balance issues to work with. This creates a struggle for contrasting one element to the other. There is also the flash area's that get hit in the foreground. I am assuming that you used a flash, because the pearls have a flash bounce on them.
The use of a more diffuse light and some fill in reflectors might have created a more even exposure and contrast.

Again a difficult shot if you only use normal ambiant lighting. Some of the background area's also lose detail. The ISO 800 settings sometimes gives off a grainy look. But you did a good job here, and those noise and grainy results are not visiable.

Overall a great image. The focal point and background elements make this photo very appealing. The use of some USM, in certain area's of the photo would have made it pop. The use of the white elements against the dark pearls was a great idea. It is also making a statement about where they originate in sea. The title and your framing left no question as to what you are selling. Great job.

Good luck in your next DPChallenge. Sincerely, Zagman.

Wow, excellent shot - one of my favorites! I think this could take a bit more unsharp mask and that'd make it dang near perfect. 9

If you paint the pearls with milk, let them dry the hotspots are less obvious 6

Others tried to do the sea theme with pearls ... you did it right. This is great. The lighting gives just the right shine to the pearls. I'll run right out and buy em! :)

sorry but i find the bright hotspots on each pearl too distractng. Try using more diffused light and some fill in reflection. The composition it very nice.....exposure and contrast a little less satisfying, especially for print

Very nice crisp photo. I like the layout. I wonder if you had considered a pearl sitting inside of an upturned clamshell. Might have lent an interesting perspective.

great dof, the subjects are brought out prefectly, the extra inner line of the border could be lost though, the image has a nice balance and the extra line creates a slight feeling of causing chaos

I think that the background may be a bit soft for my liking, but I like the shot overall 7

I guess it was hard to light this scene properly since sphere pick up reflection from anywhere. However, Light source are too visible in the pearls. Maybe a diffuse indirect lighting with longer exposition would have been better.

great job putting the piece in its natural setting and using the classic black on white backround affording a great contrast with a natural balance..."9"

The pearls are beautifully rendered here. I like the inline as well. The photo's very "commercial" (as opposed to artistic), which is what I take the challenge to be about. Or, rather, this is a challenge in which "commercial" can be an asset. Good job.

Great contrast between the pearls and the background. Like the reflection of the two pearls on the floor in the hanging one. The hanging one could use a little bit of a shift to the left.

The pearls in this picture are nice. Only thing different, I would do, is use an oyster shell instead. By doing that, you would bump the richness of the photo. By adding another dark object that belongs.

This is very nice to look at, but the arrangement seems off for some reason. The two balls on the right somehow bothers me. ???

Lovely. Nice detail, focus, DOF, and lighting. The processing is relatively clean and free from artifacts (just a slight halo around the center piece pearl). Not a huge fan of the border. Overall one of the best entries though. 8

Good job on retaining the details in the background while not making it center stage.
