Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Drake...

I believe that this is an intriguing composition... the color is subtle in most cases, but never-the-less, a strong element of this image. I like the light/dark contrast in this photo. I use similar compositional tactics myself in a lot of my own photos. The only compositional element that I could possibly make a suggestion for is the darkness at the bottom of the frame. Maybe cropping some of that out would create more of a 'base' for your candles to rise from. That negative space in the bottom of the frame gives me the impression that the candles and holder are floating in space.

I'm not really sure why this photo did not achieve a higher score. I think, based on some of the comments you received, that the impact of the color itself was not as strong as many would have liked to see.

Keep up the good work :)

Nice idea. However, the dark candles are a little too dark and become distracting. Very imaginative.

Interesting choice - I think your idea had a lot of merit - maybe brighter flames on the ones that are dark or darker flames on the ones that are overly bright?

Really dark photo...not very much color standing out. Well, shot otherwise though. Nicely focused.

very romantic

Many different shades of yellow represented here, a very serene image I like it good work.

Nicely composed, and the flames are nicely executed. I'd prefer to see more color (than just the yellow) to consider this as meeting the challenge.

Nice subject. A bit dark. I would have liked another coloured candle (to many white-like ones)

Nice shot. I think you could use another candle in the bottom right to fill that space, or crop the bottom right at the lowest candle, to get rid of the emptyness.

I think you should have position the set lower in the frame. Nice and probably not easy. 6

I like it. Although it's got some color, the color isn't the main thing to grab the viewer's eye. Nice though!

Nice image, but not much color. Very creative image though.

Nice arragement of candles and variety of colored candles. The red falme sets them all off rather nicely.

While the candles do set a nice mood they don't seem to convey a sense of color. A soft light to fill in the front woud have been nice. --5

I like your use of color here but I wish the darker colored candles showed up a little better. I can barely see the color in the green, red and blue(?) candles. I like the way the flames have those halos(?) around them. That is a cool effect. I think that a little lighting from somewhere behind the camera to one side might help this picture. I think it would bring out the color of the darker candles and allow the table to show up a little so they don’t appear to be floating in mid-air. Overall I like the composition but I might have given a little more space on the top. I think this is a strong picture and I am giving it a 6.

Good idea... I can barely tell the candles are colored... but you should have lit them from the front so it's clear. As it is, the pic isn't very colorful.

good job
