I was just browsing your stuff and came across this. Striking! ...and some folks complain that there are too many flower shots! You prove that this subject can be addressed with originality! -David |

Greetings from the Critique Club
This is one of my favorites for this challenge. It met the challenge very well, and it also has beautiful color.
Everything about this says "Spring" and "Fresh" to me.
The rain is so clearly visible and on a terrific diagonal angle.
The yellow and green are crisp and have nice tonation and gradients of color.
The composition is a simple one...I like that! There is no doubt about the subject for the subjects shines so well.
The dof is very good, with the background being perfectly oof but still natural looking.
Very, very nice!
Regards,
Grayce |

Thanks to all for the kind comments. Can't believe I got second!
OK, I'll come clean - the rain isn't real, it was produced by a garden sprinkler. Hope that doesn't spoil it for anybody.
The blurring of the rain is due to the shutter speed of 1/125. The slant on the rain is largely due to the wind, though - it was a pretty breezy day and I had a few shots spoiled because the flowers were moving.
The 'rain' shows up well because it's backlit by the sun - I think this would have been even more effective if I'd shot it early in the morning (which I'm going to try soon). I used an Olympus B-300 1.7x Teleconverter and my camera on maximum optical zoom to avoid getting wet :-) The camera was positioned on my tripod.

Great photo - love the rain drops streaking on by the daffodils. The bright yellow color of the flowers works well against the green leaves. |

Great: the only flower-rain-compination where it acctually rains. Like the colors and their division into the lower green part and the yellow section very much. Good luck to you |

I like the effect of the rain coming at an angle to the flowers. It makes the picture different than ones with verticle rain or just water droplets on the petals. Very clever. |

Excellent colors, and framing. Lllove the action in the photo with the raindrops. Kind of coming down at a severe angle, was the wind blowing hard, too. If so, ya caught them flowers in good focus. good job |

Good capture of the falling rain. Lighting is perfect, colors are vivid and subject is nicely focused. The reflection of light on the water drops adds a nice touch. Photo also has nice depth...the flowers appear to be popping right out of the picture. Good luck...you should score nicely. |

If that rain was real i would have turned round to shot the rainbow. I like. 9 |

Well done! This pic has charachter. The longer shutter speed has really done this image justice. The stringy raindrops look fantastic, the deep yellow and green tops it all off. The Shallow DOF has the background blurred perfectly, this is an excellent photo, one you can really be proud of! |
