Wow! You can see amazing detail on a subject that most of us don't hang around long enough to see in person! The black background is also very dramatic. Lighting is awesome too. Great shot! It gives the sense that his tongue is just about to come out!!

I really enjoy snakes and have to say this is a great shot of a wild snake. Nice detail in his scales and the color is true to life. Looks to me like a black racer.
Also looks like he is either missing an eye or had a bad shed and has a retained eyecap on the left eye.

Very nice subject and a great photograph. Black rat snake, right? I absolutely love taking photographs like this. Just great when you get the moment with the snake just right ~

Well done!

Excellent composition - I love the lines. The only thing missing is an extended tongue! ;-) Good lighting (although i think the highlights are right on the edge of being too bright), the focus on the scales is wonderful. Great shot!

Great shot. The snake is nice and sharp, and the composition is very pleasing. His slithery sheen looks well. Good lines too, they add movement. I can just imagine the snake leaping out of my screen and hissing.

Very nice details, texture, and very crisp. This would of been a great "light entry" as the light is what brings out all the texture and curves in your photograph.
Great Job! I like it just as it is.

This could look really good in B&W.. its almost there already.. Using the 'Calculations with overlay' method in photoshop would give some nice results.
