London's iconic red phoneboxes are fast dissapearing as the use of mobile phones spreads. This picture was taken outside StPaul's cathedral in central London. Not much more than a grabshot, but I wanted to try the idea.

I think you misinterpreted the challenge, because this particular telephone unit is not broken, out of use, disregarded, or anything else mentioned in the challenge description as far as I can see. The challenge didn't say 'compare the old with the new'.

Ok, thanks for your explanation. I can see now why you choose that particular item. I'll rate it a 7.

Very nicely done. Shows old and new. Well composed. Great sharpness.

by putting the cell phone in the same shot as the phone booth, you have effectively shown how obsolete the booth is. This shot belongs in a magazine with an article about the advances of telecommunications.

Good idea however the reflections on the phone booth are a bit distracting. A polarizer would have helped. Seeing more inside the booth I think would have given this image more impact. 6

edit: I realize this was basic editing however selective desat I think would work very well leaving just the phone booth in colour. (Cliché and done before I know)

This took me a second to get what you were referring to.. Maybe if the angle was different to where the cellphone was more noticeable - that might help the concept.

I almost chose this topic, but knew there were going to be quite a few other mobile vs landline images. Good execution though.
