I was very excited after doing this shooting session, and I started doing the edit on this group of pics. For some reason, I really get off on photographing my guitars. I have 8 and this makes the 6th one I've been able to use for a challenge. hehehe. I really like this photo, and I had a really hard time deciding which one to use out of the group.

I really worked at getting the lighting right for the shot. I used a dark blanket on my bed, and a matching one pinned to the wall for a backdrop. Then I have a halogen work light set up, bounced off the ceiling, and white foam boards on the opposite walls, and one clamp light aimed down from above. No flash.

The concept is of course, the lines of the strings, neck and body of the guitar leading to the main subject of the guitar itself. The guitar is a Robin Custom, with WWII fighter plane airbrush graphics. I'm kind of going out on a limb, I am not sure if people will totally see that, especially with the perspective I have used. My intent, with the treatment of the image, and the perspective, and the title is to relate the photo to a plane 'going down'. As always, if even 1 or 2 people 'see' it and appreciate it, I will be happy :-)

In ps -- removed dust and scratches, used dodge tool to bring out highlights on pickups with opacity lowered, gaussian blur with opacity greatly reduced, levels adj, curves adj, resized and added border.

Thanks for checking out my pic :-)

**critique club**

great shot, especially considering the camera :D

this has great lines and really good color to it. i would suggest adding another light from underneath and behind to further define the thickness of the guitar. right now it seems to blend into the background and looks almost fake-thin.

i'm sure the graphics on the guitar are cool, from this angle they do kind of distract. while the colors are great, the darker splotches detract from the photo overall.

finally, the backdrop should either be more prominent or removed. the blue ghosting in the background is almost enough to be distracting.

Dude, this is your best shot to date! I'm truly impressed that you coaxed this outa that crap camera that you got. Makes me believe that it truly is in the one holding the little box and it ain't in the little box and bits of glass. I don't normally vote on shots that I know about before the challenge starts, but I believe this shot deserves it. Don't ever ask me what score I gave it cause I won't tell.

PS: You're kickin' my ass but I'm catchin' up. Hey maybe I shouldn't have voted on this one! :-P

Nicely done, although I find the shadows of the strings to be a little confusing.
