Matt,

I assumed "straight" lines when I read this challenge. I really like how your composition starts to lead you to the right, then pulls you back to the center and hits you with the mountains. An excellent photograph, well deserving of a ribbon! Congrats!!

Excellent choice for the challenge and certainly one to be proud of.
Toning very nice, border accents the shot.

wow, what a striking image. hope it finishes in the top five, if not a ribbon. can't find a single thing to critisize on it.

Beautiful!! So clean and a very good lesson in composition for me. I love how the white line at the right shoulder stands out to emphasize the line. If it were mine, I probably would have gone with color, but when I see this, I am certain that the black and white is the best for this shot.

Very nicely done! Great capture. It's kinda funny though. Your border caught my eye right away but it's the exact opposite of the one that I've used so many times with success. (mine are black with a lite line running through it...) Don't know why this is. Not a complaint with this treatment. Just an observation!

i really like how the sun catches the peaks. I like the brooding sky for contrast, though i might like to see a little more contrast in the foreground (maybe by dodging the highlights a little) The road leads my eyes nicely to the mountains. well done.

I like the dynamic feel of this shot. The BW works well, lots of interesting textures in teh clouds and mountains. The road definitely leads you, but isn't ove-powering.

I love the atmospheric perspective created here. The mountains and sky are wonderfully texture-rich and the road really draws the eye in.

I love the shot and the feeling of movement - but I'm not too fond of the frame.
(but it does give a postcard effect - for when that would be good)

Oh. . . .this photo makes my heart ache for the mountains!!! It's so beautiful! What an incredible sky, and such great depth of field. I love it in black and white, and I bet it would look awesome in color too! Nice interesting leading lines too. 10

Leading lines or curves generally have two purposes. One is to lead the viewer into the scene. The other is to lead you toward the main subject. It is most effective if they come in from the lower left because that is the natural direction humans visually scan a picture from so are easiest to pick up.

This B&W is a fundamentally perfect textbook example of leading lines in an exceptionally fine composition. It meets the challenge the best of all entries. The sweeping lines are a major element that supports and directs attention to the main subject in an eye catching way without overwhelming the main subject and taking over the composition.

Kudos to you for a great image!

Nice conversion, strong leading line. One would have wished for a bit more impact in the destination, as it were; in this shot the road is of more power than the mountains, which probably isn't ideal. Still and all, a strong entry.

Beautiful. Nice tones and contrasts for this image. The sharp lines leading up the mountains themselves also work well here. 9

Lovely image, Ansel Adams-like mountains and sky...I like the dark treeline in foreground and the curve of road, the light breaking onto mountains is impressive.

Lovely leading lines. Switzerland? I like the B&W treatment but it could use a little more contrast in my view to add punch and drama.

This is a genuinely beautiful image, stylishly composed and executed with care and skill. Many superficially effective photographs lose their appeal after a while, but this is not one of those ... I think you'll still be proud of this harmonious work decades from now. I know I would be. 9.
