I'd love to know what it is that you bribed that fly with to make him flap his wings and pose so nicely for you to let that flash light his face so pleasantly.

Mind Boggling. I agree that this really should have blown away the competition. I also feel that the top three were pretty average shots. I would have said Blueberries, this then the Warrior wasp.

Definitely worth of a ribbon IMHO, this was the only macro shout that jumped out and screamed at me.

You're becoming quite the force.

This was my favourite of the challenge - extremely dramatic. It has something that sets itself apart from most of the others - which for mine are mostly just average bug close ups.

I find the border somewhat distracting, but otherwise I like this shot a lot.

you could have bumped up the saturation a bit of the red to make it come out nicer,.. great image nonetheless

Would love to know how you accomplished this shot... VERY cool image and amazing DOF in the foreground. 9

Great perspective. DOF ceates the feeling of flight. Only quibble is that it might have been better if it weren't dead centre. 9

use of DOF is impressive to say the least.

Amazing, makes me wonder what they actually see with those CCD eyes of them.
Wonderful how the eyes stand out, the stuff between them looks like metal. Biomechanical fly? :)

Tied as my highest rated image of the challenge. The low key lighting approach really makes your image stand out in this really green challenge. Great work.

It's not often we get to count the lenses in the compound eye of an insect, and this photo makes the task not just possible, but possibly even enjoyable. Super.

This is excellent work. The exposure and detail both create a fascinating image. It's definitely one of the best photos in this challenge.

I think your border would be more appropriate if the white area was about 2 or 4 pixels wide rather than what you have here.

8 - Wow. It looks metal. Is it flying? Great capture if it is. Perhaps more 'shine' in places, a tad more light, otherwise, great shot.

The dark background of this shot gives it such an interesting feel! I'm a little worried that this fly is gonna divebomb my house! Very well done. Incredible amounts of detail and clarity. I really like this shot a lot.
