This is my friend Kiki, who very graciously spent the afternoon diving over and over again so I could get the "perfect" circle shot. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get the reflection without the dock which I couldn't clone out due to Basic Editing challenge rules. Other fun shots from the day are posted in my Smugmug gallery for anyone interested. Basically, I cropped the shot in an elliptical shape which got rid of the dock. Cropping in a rectangle always left a portion of the dock showing, or else ruined the reflection in the water. Once I had the elliptical shape with only the elements I wanted in the final version, I had ugly white edges that needed to be filled in for a rectangle. That's when I got the idea to go with a vignette effect. Lastly, cloned out a few rogue reflections in the lower right corner and one bright spot in the hair and another in the top left of the circle that were a bit distracting. Figured I couldn't submit do to moving major elements (dock), cloning (although maybe no one but me would have noticed), and applying border elements to selected portions of the frame. Searched high and low for rules on borders, naturally by this time it was 11:47 pm and too late to ask for forum help on rules without giving away the entry.

Well, we had a great day anyway and many thanks to fellow DPC'ers for all the great comments.

This is a great example of how to use a curved border. Very nice!

VERY COOL EFFECT! The clarity and coloration of the shot is really done well. Nice lighting and good skin tone.

absolutely killer! what did you use for the framing (or is that the way you cropped it?). awesome shot!
