What a cute little butt!

This is the first bug I found this year. I had no idea they came out so early (the snow just melted a few weeks ago). I was packing up my camera bag to go home for lunch on Sunday when I saw the little guy hanging out with my Macro lens. Brought him home and took a few pics of him on a wine glass, with the sky as a background. I "played" with him for a few hours and then I let him go.

I wouldn't mind spot editing the white specks on his back. Alas, I did so when I printed it.

Shot with a Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX Macro lens.

This is one of my favourites in this challenge - understated in terms of the glass itself and yet, at the same time, all about the glass!!! I really really like the composition - the curve and bug are positioned just perfectly within the frame. Great clean blue sky. Nice DOF on the edges of the glass.
Been looking at this a lot and was wavering between a 9 and a 10.
I can't think of anything I'd change and I'd buy this as a postcard so it has to be a 10 really doesn't it?

very cool image. the blue sky is great. the glass is very subtle but effective as the surface for this bug, although I wish the bug was a lttle more lighted.

Wow! Very precise and interesting. Trying to decide if it represents "glass" fully...

A superb picture. The rim of the glass is prominant enough for you to meet the challenge and the lady bug is placed just right to invoke interest. I have came back to this one three times and that is a ggod sign. 10

Very nice composition, the curved glass leads your eye right to the little lady bug :) One suggestion: the shot needs some fill lite from the bottom right hand corner to illuminate the lady bug a little more. Maybe a reflector or small light source would have done the trick. Hot shot!

Nice idea - the ladybug is almost like a drop of juice on the rim of the glass. I wold love to see her "face" as detailed as her legs and perhaps have her reflection stand out more.

this little guy is great, perfect contrasting colors and brilliant depth of field. should be a top placer even though the glass plays a secondary role - 9

Wonderfull photo: simple, clean and great usage of color.
I do have a point of critismn though: I think the left edge of the glas being out of focus, caused by the narrow DOF, is confusing. Because it's not in focus it doesn't function as a leading line towards the ladybug.

Excellent composition and color. Throw some yellow in there and you're ready to re-shoot for the "Primay Colors" challenge.

Simple and clean. Really like the subtle reflection of the bug. Perhaps just a bit more DOF to get the bugs head in focus.

Strong visual, nice focus.... possibly a bit grainy or reddish spots in the blue.... but overall it's a well balanced image.... I think this will do well.... the blue and the red work well to create a nice contrast..... very good, hopefully the ladybug is made of glass too! I'm giving it a 9.... good luck, Todd.

What a great capture. I love how the blue color is identical both looking through the glass and without it. The bug adds an extra something (wow-factor!) and it shows great detail. Congratulations on a great photo! - 9

The ladybug's the star. In a glass challenge, I grade pictures where the glass is the star far higher. Nice shot, though.
