I took this shot at a friend's wedding. The wind was gusting and created quite a good effect on this fellow. I had no intention of entering this challenge but when I had loaded the photo into the computer I thought the "wooden" instrument might be fitting.

A choice photo - very much together. He looks like that was a sour note, or he had been dating the bride and she dumped him - like the sepia treatment, and the rich color of the cello, contrasting somehow with the creation behind him - one a divine one, the other inspired music inspired by divine promptings? Very nice combination - it could be he had a touch of indigestion, or a late night

I like the differential focus too-concentrates on him

Very nice, as are so many of your shots, and the border is the finishing touch here

keep clicking!

I always loved this picture. Seen it often and everytime I did think that it was one of the best on DPC.

Now I'm just wondering why I didn't add it to my favs before? Mistake corrected.

Congrats for a great picture.

Good use of desat. His expression, the wind against his hair, and even the choice of the instrument he's playing just gives this a classy look. Very well done. I especially like that this was outside. Just don't see this kind of instrument against that background very often.

what i like about shots like these is the natural expression on the person. models can hardly potray the real feeling of actually doing something. and i love the way you desaturated colours while remaining the one on the instrument. really brings the viewer's eye to the main "wooden" subject.

Nice, LOVE the dof and image quality but the selective desaturation is hurting the image instead of helping it IMHO. Still one of the very best in the challenge as far as I am concerned! 8 from me.

Cool!
I'm not absolutely sure about the desaturation, because the photo is already so strong. I love the backlight on the wheat (or other grain).
A winner I'm sure!

In this challenge, "Creativity is the Key" is what I am using to score images. Beautiful! From the background blur to the wind in his hair this image is great. Not too fond of the border and unsure of the crop, but as it is the composition works. Love the touch of grass in the midground. 10 - Good luck in the challenge!

Really unique photo. One of the few unusual thoughts I've seen for this challenge. I imagine someone will complain about the selective desat, but I think it fits well within the context of your photo. I vote 8.
