Took a risk with this one and don't necessarily expect to do well. I chose an alternative approach to the challenge. I may even get a DQ for the internal frame!

Chris - You know this could make a fun print. Have you considered taking the desat outer area and lowering the opacity some (I'm assuming you still have it available in layers) - where it is almost ghostlike in appearance? You would need to add additional border space to allow for framing (especially on the bottom left).

Just a thought. BTW, I've enjoyed the stir your post about this image has created. ;^)

Not sure how this was achieved but it is a good effect. I don't think I like the frame within the image and not sure that it is legal but will disregard that in voting. I'm also having trouble to see the illusion but the image does have a a lovely charm about it.

first: check your spelling before you submit!!
now that we have that out of the way... at first I didn't like this picture because of the unusual framing, but after a minute I realized that the picture wouldn't work any other way, and started to develop appreciation for its cleverness. it's well pulled off, and I like the fact that it stretches the boundaries of acceptable editing. nice work.

This is an interesting idea, and the final composition is original. I am not sure abot the final outcome though. I have looked at this a number of times and am still unsure if I like it.

Th colour square has good lighting, but the B?W seems strangly dull by comparrison. I perhaps would have gone with a sepia rather than B/W

i do not care for this frame within a fram thing at all. It does not add to the compoition imho. Were there no altenatives to creating the illusion of rain in the camera?

You're probably not gonna like this comment, however I feel compelled, when commenting, to say it the way I see it. IMHO you have violated the spirit of the DPC community. This is not the Digital Graphics Art Challenge site, it's Digital Photography Challenge sSite. I believe that this would be a simple snapshot without the major element of the frame that you added. I also believe that you have not honored the spirit of the challenge which is to PHOTOGRAPH an illusion. This illusion is totally created in post processing. In other words, you attempted to take a rather boring shot and create something out of it. Putting that aside for a moment, your frame within the frame appears to be rather forced and awkward. It doesn't lift the shot, it distracts. Given all of this, I'm afraid that I can not give you a very high score. In another forum, it may have done well...

i love how its almost like a tutorial on how to create fantastic flower shots.
it shows the setup while still showing the final product.

Nice color and lighting. Shows nice detail. I don't really like the white border around the smaller picture. I think a square of color would have been just fine and wouldn't have chopped up the whole picture as much. Also, I might suggest not including the whole water sprayer to make the water source not so odvious.

Not sure I get the set-up. Not happy with the split processing as it is. The title is not spelled correctly which makes me think you don't care enough about the entry.

It came out pretty decent Chris (yes - I remembered the forum post). Wonder how it would have worked to position yourself to catch a rainbow in the spray? Good luck in the challenge.

Not sure how this will survive a DQ request, but if it does, it gets high marks from me! Good luck!

This is very pretty. I'm not certain I see the tie-in to illusion, as it appears that the "shower" is coming from the garden hose. Unless it's really rain? Dunno. Very pretty though.
