I didn't see this one in the challenge, but I'm glad I've stumbled across it. Truly this is an underrated image, apparently a victim of the "hit 5 and keep going" voting style. This image has a subtlety to it that's lost on all those who just want visual fireworks. It's a shame that such intelligent imagery as this frequently gets passed over.

That screen is Karma's version of a doggie door. She created it all by herself. Anomalies in the way this house is oriented/built don't allow the placement of a "regular" doggie door; the only place one might easily exist is right where the sliding glass door is. I'm not gonna bother replacing the screen until winter, because as long as I leave this glass door open she's gonna bust out the screen anyway. I'll need to get a carpenter and an electrician in to create a proper doggie door for her, sigh.

An underrated shot, bear. Now that the challenge is over, at least you can fix that screen. ;-)

should have done much better. at least you got good comments, strange how the votes don't always reflect that.

For the record, this is a "found image", one of many I've done lately. No object was moved in the making of this shot. Evidently this sort of thing doesn't go over real well (grin).

Thanks to all commenters.

The torn screen kind of makes this shot, so I would move the right chair out of the way and get lower to put the tear more in the frame.

Beautiful idea and very well executed! Almost everything is perfect: Distractions for me include the tag on the chair. the green tarp, and the hose. The compostion is great as it is, but would be stronger without those extra elements, I think.

This is a nice idea, shooting through the screen. It gives a very nice texture to the shot. 7

seems like you did quite a bit of dodging here... nothing wrong with that at all :) lose the green tarp so that only the dark wood patio and the stark white chairs are left for the viewer to appreciate... 5

Interesting shot. I like the whole screen thing. The label on the chair is distracting though, as is the glare on the table. Still, a unique take on the challenge.

Rather a depressing feel to this shot, though there isn't anything of interest to me about it, it does catch the feel for me, so, good job!

very nice job composing this porch scene creating an artistic view of an otherwise common subject. Very nice work

the labels on the front of the chair are very unfortunate, beautiful shot otherwise, the tear is very cool

The torn screen is an interesting idea. But personally, I don't find the plastic deck chair (especially with the big upc sticker so prominent) a very strong subject. Also, with the busy background, and the hose and cut off table and other chair, it has the appearance of just a quick shot of whatever was in sight.

This is a fantastic idea. I love the effect of the screen.
