Thanks for the info on the setup. It would have been interesting to have the white balance right on the milk and emphasize the orange in the drops - noone needs to know it's chocolate :)

some one asked during the challenge how this was set up, so i thought i'd give a quick rundown :

basically, i set up a bowl of milk on the counter and mounted my d70
and tamron 90mm to the tripod just slightly higher than the bowl. i
manually focused on my finger at the surface of the water in the
middle of the bowl.
for this shot, the sb-600 flash was set in wireless mode just beside
the bowl to the left of the lens with a lumiquest ultrasoft to give
the soft lighting. with a turkey baster, i dropped chocolate milk
into the bowl and just kept my finger on the shutter button (taking
about 25+ shots per baster full)
in total, it took more than 150 shots to get this one to turn out.
hurray for digital...
the real difficulty was getting the drops to hit in time w/ the
shutter and flash and to make all the drops hit the exact spot i'd
prefocused on...
because of the kitchen lights and the flash, i never got the white
balance to a point i was happy with, which is why the milk is too blue
and the chocolate milk too orange... oh well. next time i'll know
better...

Using the max size for the image would make this even more spectacular. Great!

I like the sharpness of your picture, also, how clear and simple the drops and forms are. Very smooth. Try to submit a larger image for the next challenge - have a look at the learn -> tutorial section. 10.

I really liked this photo because of the color in the middle, you can see the brown or orange in the middle trying to mix with the plain white. I like your use of colors and I'm glad you didn't do white milk dropping into white milk! Good job! 10.

Nice ripple effect. You obviously worked on your lighting quite a bit; there is no ugly shadows like so many entry in this challenge.

Looks like drops of orange instead of chocolate. I do like this picture, especially the way the color blends with the white. The blending gives it a different take on the splash.

It seems as though it took some thought and practice to capture a dark drop in front of a light background. I really like it . Great focus and timing. I'm wondering about the crop choice, but it's still one of my favorites in this challenge.

Awesome capture. You have a great chance of winning. Love the ripples and the pinkish color is a nice change from the white. 10

Nice gentle splash. I like the effect of the little splah on the back right hand side.
Excellent lighting and coloring.

Nice sharp focus, the milk has too much color cast in it and it appears greenish so not from the chocolate.

7 - Like this, but the title actually detracts in my opinion. Look more like 'eggs' (well especially that back one) than chocolate to me. Criticism; larger, maybe (if possible) rotate and then crop, if you could still have included that far right 'indent drop', not sure, also to include the left 'rim' of the main 'indent drop', would have made this a better shot in my opinion.

Beautiful Image...... soft smooth texture.... perfect frozen droplets and nice diffused lighting. Did you use flash for this or an external light source?
