Really fantastic shot! I like the contrast in the rock and the sand opposed to the sky.

Appears to be rather underexposed. It's easy to miss the loner on the beach if you didn't see the title. Maybe move in bit closer would have helped.

OK, I thought another shot looked like a heida landscape. This one looks more like it. great capture. The blurred seagull is distracting and I would have cloned it out, but with all the DrJones hubub, maybe it was safer to leave it in. 9.

Nicely done. The walker adds scale and contributes to the feeling of a deserted place.

Two things....well first the image is excellent in exposure and focus want to like it a lot....well except for the two things: The geological aberration, fascinating as it is, is too centered, and the movement of the bird is distracting to me. I would have done away with the bird. As is I am asking which is the loner, the person or the bird. Super job otherwise.

Mjög svöl mynd. Þetta endar í top 10.

center composition doesn't work most of the time, but this one does, I like the blur in the bird.....Nice job......9

Cool shot, Looks Heida-ish.....9

You know I almost thought the bird should be caught in stop action. But, then it looks like everything is leaving the man and that he is a "loner" . Nice Job.

strking sky and clouds. The person almost feels like a distraction in the picture (feels more like a landscape). I assume he is the "loner" though, so this photo may be pushing the envelope a bit for the title.

This is magnificent! I love the timing of the bird and the landscape is gorgeous. The person walking adds interest (and justifies the title!) 10

This looks like a Zoomdak shot. If it wasn't taken by Zoomdak take that as a MASSIVE compliment, if it was, take that last sentence as a MASSIVE compliment.

Brilliant. Love the 50/50 composition, it really works well here, and that faint hint of red in the jacket too - tremendous

I like the shot and composition. Had there been more of the sky and less of the water so that the middle structure wasn't so dead center I would have scored it higher.

amazing place i really like it, the shot is perfect

You know, I really like this scene. But somehow, and I'm sure people are already debating this, I really think the blur of the bird is distracting, solely because it's more foreground than background.

Very nice with the bird in motion.

First of all, a very good title, most of the titles in the challenge have a hard time relating to the picture but this one fits like a glove. Great depth of field, interesting textures on the beach and in the rock. The rock looks very well and is fully capable of holding up the centered composition. -10

Hello...is this ingolfurht? I remember commenting that you should resubmit Hvitserkur to a challenge....and here it is. Stunning shot... still reminds me of a Dali painting.

I don't like the title, should be Deserted Loser :-) But Great capture, really emotional, great colors, great composition, and what a fantastic icelantic nature!

Is he really walking on water? 10.

Brilliant picture, but the model doesn't quite fit. Love the bird, though.

Very nice. Love the clouds and the blur of the bird (I usually don't like to see the whole bird with blur, but it works here). The person in the photo certainly looks like he's out of luck! 9

Beautiful picture. I think the bird distracts a little though.

Love the dark mood that matches the title. Also the reflection and the rock?? Where was this taken? The bird distracts me a bit, but overall wonderfull.

I might've liked it a bit better without the bird, but maybe I'm just missing a key point here. Very nice shot however, if not just a tad dark to my taste.
08/29/2005 01:24:07 AM
Great shot. I like everything about it. The bird movement, the single figure on the beach, the reflection, the deep tones and that sky - WOW Great title as well.

It is a shame that seagull is in this shot...without it I would've definitely gotten the sense of solitude. Beautiful landscape.
