One key to life, is living in harmony.

Memories of Better Days

A bulky, dusty, out of tune
wooden box on legs
lingers in our family room,
and cringes in dismay.

When Grandma passed, a somber hymn
accompanied her ascent.
When Dad proposed they gathered round
And sang for hours on end.

On holidays and lonely nights
the music ebbed and flowed.
The technician came twice a year
And tuning gifts bestowed.

Arthritis cursed, the crowds dispersed,
a quietness crept in.
The once adored was now ignored
when vinyl took a spin.

The stranger dwells in solitude
with little more to give,
than memories of better days
when we knew how to live.

I really like te perspective on this one...I feel it would of been stronger though if the focus were at the front of the frame and gradually faded out. Does that make sense?

I love the perspective in this shot. The reflection on the top of the ivories is great. The b/w processing with the slight sepia toning (it appears anyway) is perfect for the composition. Well done!

Very strong composition which juxtaposes a dynamic presentation with a stable subject. Almost makes me believe you can create dramatic music on this thing. Well done! Among my top picks.

Like the lighting and the BW treatment.

Some perspective. For me, this could use a bit more contrast or maybe a bit more crispness somewhere. (Sorry, I'm not very good at technical critiques). :|

i like this because you can see some background and the whole thing fits together, the roughness of the piano and the background and the monotone, the light. the reflections on the keys are an unexpected delight. beautiful mood.

IMO, not enough lighting. I think I would like to see the keys whiter in this picture.
