Yeah i know the brown spot in the top left is distracting. Since this is basic editing i desaturated by channel, so couldn't desat that part as well without losing flesh tones. The print version takes care of this, and that odd hot pixel looking thing on the bag (that's actually a fly in midair oddly in perfect focus).

Decided to submit this in the end, instead of my original submission - it's a nicer overall image, but will probably lose points for being too "out of the box" (or just way off topic really).

Edits: slight crop, slight colour saturation increase, intensity increase to blow out the background a bit more, desaturation of green and yellow, resize, sharpen.

Love this shot a lot. It conveys much and would really look great I think in b&w or sepia.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Well, I think you probably got what you wanted out of this image, as it scored well and received some nice comments.

The composition is excellent and meets the Challenge perfectly. Technically, it is sharp where it needs to be and out of focus where appropriate.

Personally, I think I'd rather have seen the whole image desaturated, as only the bit of blue leg, a slight tinge of color in the boy's head and that bit of blue trash near the bench where the woman sits stands out. It gives me a mixed message on what you want the viewer to look at.

But all in all, it's a nice piece of art and you did well, in my opinion. Good luck in future challenges.

Strong theme. The inclusion of the lady on the other bench actually strenghthens their isolation, especially since she is out of focus. Great Clarity. Slight red on top left and lady's head almost keep this from being a 10, but it leans on its strenghts.

i think the selective desat was not such a good decision cause the only color i can see except the black and grey tones is blue (the trousers and a distracting blue reflection on the bank).i guess a completely b&w would have worked better
i really like the zoom effect here though.the pic shows a situation in every day life, but it's a special one ,cause you can use your fantasy to guess what happens next (;/ hard too explain *g*)
good luck (8)

I like your approach. Althought I find the shot interesting, I do find it a bit odd too. It's a bit heavy to the right and makes we want to tilt my head. It's good anyway.

Looks like a winner to me. It tells many stories. Excellent DOF and detail clarity--10!

The thingy hanging down by the dude is bothering me a tad. I like the idea of both people kind of sitting alone and not even seeming to realize it. Very Forest Gump kinda.

Really excellent shot and title.

Nitpicks: There's some trash or something blueish up next to the far bench on the right that's a little distracting and an orangeish spot up in the top left. She also has an orange halo. Things you couldn't help within the challenge rules, I'm sure. I'd love to see the final version of this one.
