RAW capture. Squash blossom on wire grid, Macro.

Converted to TIFF, levels, selective color, hue/sat. Inrared conversion inverted and imported as a "difference" layer, faded. Resized, USM, save for web.

This is my attempt to provide an eerie, sci-fi interpretation of the Area 51 Captured Aliens "conspiracy".

I expect I'm doomed for 2 reasons: many voters won'thave a clue what "Area 51" purportedly IS, and voters historically don't like this sort of posterized manipulation. But I had a lot of fun. Cool challenge.

I know Area 51 and I think your photo was PERFECT for this challenge. I also LOVE posterization. Super lighting. Very, very cool. One of my favorites...10

Interesting idea but I don't get how a corn husk has anything to do with area 51......4

hehehe, took me a moment there. Teh funky colors (post processing?) add to the alien feeling of this. Nice work.

I keep coming back to this because I'm not sure what to make of it, or even what it is. I like the diagonal and the symettry of the background, and the color scheme is intriguing, but I don't understand what the heck it is!

very unique, interesting to look at.
Not the kind of thing that would go over well here, but I think you did a pretty good job

I kindof wish you'd done the editing of the pod on a different layer than the background to get a contrast between earth/alien. As it is, the whole picture seems rather alien to me and it softens the effect a little bit.

Very unusual effect...but I can't stop looking at it.

this is great art, but it feels so manipulated, it seems out of place in a photo contest 5

That alien pod reminds me an awful lot of corn on the cob ;-) I like the background grid, and I even like the filtering effects on this one.

OH this is totally cool!!! I love the grid pattern with the pod's coloration. Really clever.
