I wish I could clone out the few reflections off the water,it's basic editing! :(. And it is shot at ISO 800, so I had to use NI and that's removed more detail from the bird than I like. But I do like the bird and the colors, so I'm submitting it anyhow, let's see what happens :D

Post Challenge: Wow, am I glad I submitted!! Thanks for all the comments, and the score and the ribbon! Yay :)

Thank you all for your wonderful comments, and the ribbon! I am so thrilled :)
This was not taken with the challenge in mind at all... in fact I had set out with the intention of taking a picture for Destinations, but nothing suitable happened. (Clearly being an egret at sunset is not one of my destinations :P). But with a wonderful challenge like rule of thirds :D, I managed to enter something from my evening out, I had no idea at all it would end up doing so well! Due thanks to my model egret as well :)

This image is excellent as is. The negative space works well because of the water trail that tells the viewer that movement is taking place and the image records the history of this movement. The colors are just great. Congratulations on your Blue.

8 - Very nice, elegant. Nice colors. Criticism; difficult, but perhaps more detail on the stork/crane(?), especially as you have with the 'rear', somehow to capture that 'all the way to the beak' would have possibly made this a better shot in my opinion, though not sure. That may have detracted too much from that 'ripple' that you have captured well and also, the reflection. Considering the Challenge, perhaps that suggested focus would have worked better re a 'stricter adherence', and while no expert, you have used that 'intersection' well as is, and indeed, used the 'third base line' as well, with the ripples, so covered 'two bases', in a sense. Perhaps a slightly different crop, not sure, would change the shot entirely if you did anything else, though the use of this 'point of interest(s), on the left, if possible, would also have worked well. The upper left slight 'ripple' visible, mildly detracts from the 'calmness' of this shot, but just to contradict that statement, it does add something here as well, but for me, would be a better shot without it, in my opinion. Nice shot. edit:typo - and Congratulations.

This is one amazing photo. Sharpness is superb and the texture of the surface of the water as well as the bird are superb. Bird is placed along right third of frame. Reflection is complete and makes for an impressive overall image. Intersection of thirds lines, however are at the back of the bird's body. This shot is everything but perfect.

Love the rich coppery tones. I wish the bird were a bit better focused, but the placement and the reflection is spot on.
